He was convicted of attempted kidnapping on June 30, 1976 and sentenced to fifteen years in prison. On June 7, 1977, he was transferred to a state prison in Pitkin County, Colorado, where authorities were preparing to charge him with murder. However, he managed to escape the local courthouse during a recess by jumping out of a second story window. Unfortunately for Bundy, he had injured his ankle and was not able to escape the city before being captured the next week. Once back in jail, Bundy managed to pull off another miraculous escape. He stole a hacksaw from the facility and used it to saw a hole in the ceiling of his room. On December 30, 1977, he climbed into the ceiling and entered the main hallway of the prison. Since the front door guard was gone for the evening, he was able to stroll out the front door and take off in a stolen car. After other escapes and recaptures, finally on the morning of February 15, 1978, Bundy was pulled over by a traffic cop. When the plates registered stolen, he was identified and transported to Miami to stand trial for the sorority house murders. What triggered Ted Bundy's interest to become necrophilia?

Necrephilia, a sexual disorder present in some serial killers such as Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer, is not totally understood, but in the case of these killers it is thought that it is a matter of control. In simplistic terms, sex with a corpse leaves all control with the living participate, since a corpse has no will or desires of their own. Bundy, as a killer, is still not totally understood. He was an intelligent man with an above average IQ and even at his death even he did not fully understand why he did the things he did.

He was often quoted as blaming his plight on violent pornography. Although this may have contributed to his obsessions, it is highly unlikely that this was the cause of his serial murderer career. Bundy showed signs of a troubled mind

before he entered his school years. At the tender age of three, Bundy placed knives (tips pointed inward) all around his sleeping teen-aged aunt. She awakened to find a grinning Teddy and the kitchen's sharpest knives arranged around her. Needless to say, she was appropriately creeped out.

What theoretical school of crime causation explains Ted Bundy?

Serial killers tend to be white, heterosexual males in their twenties and thirties who are sexually dysfunctional and have low self-esteem. Their methodical rampages are almost always sexual in nature. Their killings are usually part of an elaborate fantasy that builds to a climax at the moment of their murderous outburst. Serial killers generally murder strangers with cooling off periods between each crime. Many enjoy cannibalism, necrophilia and keep trophy-like body parts as mementos of their work. Serial killers are sadistic in nature. Some return to crime scenes or grave sites of their victims to fantasize about their deeds. Many like to insert themselves in the investigation of their crimes and some enjoy taunting authorities with letters or carefully placed pieces of evidence.

Serial killers tend to prey on women and children of their same race. Prostitutes, drifters and hitchhikers are their victims of choice. Some homosexual killers enjoy hunting young boys and gay men. Female serial killers tend to be "black widows" who kill a succession of husbands, lovers, or other family members. They can also be nurses or other medical professionals who become self-appointed "angels of death" murdering babies, elderly, or the desperately ill in a misguided effort to relieve their suffering. Most serial killers grew up in violent households. As youngsters they enjoyed torturing animals, setting fires and were chronic bed-wetters. As adults, many serial have some type of brain damage and are addicted to alcohol and/or drugs.

How many counts of murder was Ted Bundy convicted of?

Of the seven known states that Bundy killed in only the murders he committed in Florida were tried before a jury. But Bundy confessed to over 30 murders before he was executed in 1989 and hinted at many more. It is anyone's guess as to how many Bundy killed although 30 is probably a very conservative number.

How was forensic evidence used to prove Ted Bundy's guilt?

In the days prior to DNA and fiber analysis, forensics as we now know them were much less of a science than they are today. The proverbial nails in the coffin for Bundy was the bite mark evidence, a novel idea at the time. Much of Bundy's case was still considered circumstantial. Be that as it may, the juries had no trouble finding Bundy guilty of multiple counts of murder.

Did Ted Bundy use the insanity plea in his first trial?

Initially, it seemed like a good idea, one that was encouraged by his defense attorneys. But Berkowitz pled guilty of multiple counts of first degree murder. The talking dog scenario didn't last long and fooled almost nobody.

Where was Ted Bundy caught?

In August 1975 police attempted to stop Bundy for a driving violation. He aroused suspicion when he tried to get away by turning his car lights off and speeding through stop signs. When he was finally stopped his VW was searched and police found handcuffs, an ice pick, crowbar, pantyhose with eye holes cut out along with other questionable items. They also saw that the front seat on the passenger side of his car was missing. Police arrested Ted Bundy on suspicion of burglary.

On February 9, 1978, Bundy killed again. This time it was 12-year-old Kimberly Leach, who he kidnapped then mutilated. Within a week of the disappearance of Kimberly, Bundy was arrested in Pensacola for driving a stolen vehicle. Investigators had eyewitnesses who identified Bundy at the dorm and at Kimberly's school. They also had physical evidence that linked him to the three murders, including a mold of the bite marks found on in the flesh of the sorority house victim.

Did Ted Bundy have the MacDonald triad?

Ted Bundy didn't think his mind was mess up and he thought he was smart. He defended himself in his case after firing his lawyer. That is a fool or stupid thing to do. He was also caught for speeding. No speeding, he would be still free.

The Macdonald triad is a set of three behavioral characteristics that are associated with sociopathic behavior. Ted Bundy had all those characteristics.

Where are Ted Bundy's siblings?

Ted Bundys daughter has change her name and move out;

Did Ted Bundy have any children?

He is said to have fathered a son to Carol Boone in his final days in death row. He did really have married but death roll inmates don't get conjugal visits. So, the rumor says so but the legal system no.

//Ted Bundy fathered a daughter with Carol Boone while on Florida's death row. Although conjugal visits are not an option for condemned prisoners it is common enough for guards to 'look the other way' during spousal visitations, the results being enough births resulting to form a small city. I believe the daughter did in fact visit Bundy before his death in 1989 but before his execution (at least a couple of years) Carol finally gave up on her 'prince charming' and left Florida, destination undisclosed. It is rumored that she changed her and her daughter's names and headed back to the Pacific Northwest where she may have had family. Although to a lessor degree, Carol and her daughter too, are victims of Bundy. Whether she convinced herself years ago that he was wrongly convicted or was one of millions of women everyday that think they can change a man, Carol Boone fell prey to Bundy's handsome face and smooth talk and could not, or would not see what lurked beneath.//

The same thing, the rumor says so but the legal system no.

//Bundy fathered a daughter with long time friend/girlfriend Carole Boone, the child was born in 1982. Due to the notoriety of Bundy's crimes the daughter was given the full protection of the law and so far has been able to remain annonymous. This child was brought to the prison to visit, a fact that is easy to verify with prison personel. This mystery child was conceived on visiting day which death row inmates are entitled to. It is a well-known fact that on-duty guards allow sex during these visits, and although it seems to outrage the public, in general, there is little chance things will change anywhere near soon. There is a photo of Bundy, Boone and their daughter on tumblr.com. Below is a link to another photo of Bundy with his daughter.//

What was the name of Ted Bundy's girlfriend in Washington state?

Stephanie Brooks was Bundy's on/off girlfriend for several years. Brooks was very worried after reading about the killer's description in the papers. She thought that it sounded like Bundy. After talking to the police, they reassured her that it was probably not her boyfriend, and she left the station feeling at least somewhat relieved.

Brooks and Bundy were sweethearts while both were attending college but she broke it off with him and returned to her family in California. Bundy never got over her entirely. They eventually reunited and were engaged for a short while. Then Bundy broke it off, some feel just to get even when she broke his heart.

During this time, Bundy had begun to kill young college girls, and as the body count rose, the Brooks/Bundy relationship went south.

Why did Ted Bundy pick college girls as victims?

He was sexually attracted to girls of that age.

Where did Ted Bundy place his victims?

Considering the fact the Bundy had a difficult time with the truth law enforcement has a good idea of the states where he committed his murders. Washington state, possibly Oregon, probably Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Florida.

Although this may seem extensive for one serial killer to have killed in so many different places it is common for this type of killer to move around alot. Bundy spent so much time in his car just driving around looking for potential victims. There have been several long-haul truckers that were able to move around freely leaving a trail of bodies in their wake.

As the date for his execution grew closer, Bundy tried to bargin with police. He would tell them where more bodies were to get a stay of execution. Police thought he had enough time since he sat on Florida's death row for almost a dozen years. No deal. Bundy kept his date with 'Old Sparky' in January 1989.

What crimes did Ted Bundy commit?

Although he was suspected of dozens and possibly hundreds of murders, he was executed in the state of Florida for the killing 3 sorority girls at Florida State and 12 year old Kimberly Leach, also in Florida.

What is the address to Ted Bundy's house in Washington?

Bundy lived in several different states and different locations throughout his life. I have still not been able to verify any actual addresses. I will keep looking and will post any if/when I find them.

Was Ted Bundy a lawyer?

As a law school drop-out Bundy refused the first rule of the Bar. Never represent yourself. Bundy had such a huge opinion of himself that he felt nobody could represent him like hecould. He was wrong. Although the court appointed attorneys to help Bundy with his defence, Bundy did the bulk of lawyering himself. And look at the result.

Bundy's only known victim to escape appeared as a witness for the prosecution. Carol LaRoche was cross-examined by Bundy himself, as is routine in a trial. She had to look into the face of the man that had tried to murder her and answer his questions. Experts felt this was just another way for Bundy to victimize LaRoche and they were right. But she remained poised and held it together and her testimony was very damaging to Bundy's case. He should have let one of his assistant attorneys question LaRoche but this was Bundy's show and he called the shots.
