The Crucible (play)

The Crucible is a 1952 play written by Arthur Miller in response to Congress' actions towards accused communists. In his play, he compares the hunt for communists to the famed Salem Witch Trials of 1692. Despite the connection, the Crucible cannot be considered a factual depiction of the witch trials

Why does Abigail accuses Goody Good and Goody Osburn of witchcraft?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It wasn't Abigail that accused them of witchcraft. It was Tituba.

She accused Goody Goody and Goody Osburn of witchcraft because she's getting pressured of what they were asking her so she told them what they wanted to hear and Mrs. Putnam said that she was sure that someone was killing her babies so Tituba mentioned Goody Good and Goody Osburn because they became a midwife to Mrs. Putnam three times already.

How can you get your husband to admit his adultery?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Hopefully you have some proof he is actually cheating and you aren't jealous or imagining things. If you have proof, then don't waste your time getting him to admit he is cheating, because most men/women are in denial through their affairs in the first place. The truth of the matter is ... one lie leads to another until you don't know the truth anymore.

If you know for sure he is cheating, then sit him down, tell him you aren't putting up with it and if he is still in denial it's time to move on. No matter how many years you have been together it's not worth wasting the rest of your life on.

User Avatar

Asked by AndreaZepeda

I think Hale went to Proctors house because he heard that John Proctor has been missing out on Sabeth(?) days lately and his third son has not been baptised. Also I think he went to tell John Proctor that Elizabeth's name was mentioned in Court that day.

A bit of Dramatic irony is how Marguerite hasn't any idea that Percy is the Pimpernel, and we know from almost the beginning. Another is how Bibot swears that Percy won't get through his gate, and he lets him right through at the first mention of "plague!"

In the book the crucible why does elizabeth think abigail wants to kill her?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In 'The Crucible' Abigail Williams sticks a needle into her stomach so that she can have a basis to accuse her sister, Elizabeth Proctor, of witchcraft.

How she makes this accusation against her is that before this, Marry Warren is seen handing over a poppet to Elizabeth saying they both made it together for her.

This poppet is later discovered that it has a similar needle stuck to it as found on Abigail's stomach. This is discovered when Abigail has said Elizabeth sent out her evil spirit onto her to stab her with the needle and the authorities of Salem came to her house to investigate.
