Like how difficult are her competitors to beat? Well, several of Katniss' opponents in the first book had trained their whole lives to be in the Games. Katniss is pretty good at survival, though, so she doesn't have too much trouble taking care of herself. One of the most challenging parts is being what the capital wants her to be while in the public eye.

The government formed the Games after the rebellions to keep the districts in line. The point is to show how powerful it is by saying "look, we're so powerful, we can take your kids and make them kill each other, and you're so weak you can't do anything about it," like how a man might beat his girlfriend in an abusive relationship to get her to submit to him.

Haymitch Abernathy is a fictional character, creatin by Susan Collions. He was the winner of the second Quater Quell (50th Hunger Games). He was also the mentor of Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen.

Haymitch lived in district 12, and after he won, President Snow killed his mother, and "his girl" (meaning girlfriend) for using a force field to kill the last tribute. Ever since then Haymitch had been drinking. He is a drunk.

Haymitch was from the seam, meaning he is tan(olive colored skin) and Grey eyes. He's said to have been 40 in the Hungry Games.

Jabberjays - mutt birds designed by the Capitol - mimick screams of the victors' loved ones causing them to think that those people are in the arena and undergoing pain.

When Peeta was swinging a knife around cutting down plants, he accidentally hit a force field that shocked him so bad that his heart stopped. Finnick performed CPR on Peeta which saved his life. He could have just left Peeta to die, but he didn't.

Haymitch says that Katniss has "about as much charm as a dead slug." Her lack of interview skills are a major problem because Sponsors like to be charmed and convinced into helping their tribute. Katniss isn't very good at making friends - as she herself admits - and is concerned that her bluntness and lack of charm will prevent her from gaining Sponsors.

She was really happy that Peeta was alive, she was just a little suspicious about Finnick because she didn't know him too well.

it's ironic because Effie lives in the Capitol, a place where they force 24 children from the other districts to fight to the death. This is a form of entertainment for the Capitol, and this is barbaric in itself.

I do believe they were never said and her mom was always known as Mrs. Everdeen or just simply "Mom" when Katniss narrated but I wish they would've said it sometime because it would be cool to know...

The bread symbolizes nothing. When Katniss and Peeta were younger, Katniss went out looking for food through garbage. Peeta was told by his mother to go and feed a burnt piece of bread to the pigs. Instead, he found Katniss looking through their garbage hoping to find bread. He gave the bread to Katniss and suffered being beat by his mother.

The name of Prim's cat is Buttercup

Prim absolutely adores the cat although it hates Katniss.

Katniss found the stray cat and brang it home for Prim.

It lives in their house, but goes looking for food most nights.

The cat survives the entire Hunger Games

the hob in the hungergames is a black market for the seam to get food, its illegal to trade and sell in the districts, but the hob is defiant to the rules. But katniss and gale sell therir game (game is hunted animals) for food or money

Every year, 1 boy and 1 girl from all of the 12 districts of Panem must be put in an arena and fight to the death. Katniss Everdeen's sister, Primrose, is selected, so Katniss volunteers in her place. Katniss and the boy tribute, Peeta Mellark are taken to the Capitol where the arena is.

The first to die was Leeg 2, one of the people in Squad 451, who died from an unlabeled pod. Then there was Boggs, from another mislabeled pod. Mitchel died trying to pull Peeta off of Katniss, but Peeta hurled him into a net of barbed wire. Messalla died in a sort of acidic light. Then Homes, Jackson, and Castor died holding off the lizard mutts. Finnick died (sob) from the lizard mutts as well. Soon afterward, Prim was killed by Gale's bombs.

Other deaths: Cinna, Portia, Peeta's prep team, President Snow, President Coin.
