When was the Parthenon invented?

In reality, the Parthenon was never lost, so it could never be found. It was however built 447-432 BC in Athens and designed by Iktinos and Kallikrates..

After the christianizing of Greece, the temple to Athena, the patron goddess of Athens, Wisdom and a known virgin, was transformed into a Christian Church for the Virgin Mary. For over one and a half millenia, the temple stood as is and was kept up as a Christian monestary, church and nunnery. None of the ancient pagan art was removed until the Turkish invasion.

In 1815, the Turks were fighting the Venitians in Athens and had begun storing gunpowder in the church, a Venitian cannon hit the church and blew the building to what stands today. The Turkish government sold most of the statues, including the Eligin Marbles, and the 50' statue of Athena to the British. Unfortunately all made it but the statue of Athena. Athena's gold and ivory carved statue was destroyed in a fire on a ship in the Egypitan port of Alexandria and it was estimated to be worth close to 803.9 million dollars in today's standards

Today the Parthenon stands as a testimant to the strength in Ancient Greek architecture, being structurally sound after nearlly two millenia, wars, explosions and countless earthquakes, work has begun on restoring the Parthenon including retreiving the eligin marbles from London, its main threat is actually not earthquakes but air pollution and smog. Smog deteriorates marble and causes holes to develope in the stone making it pourous, and more cabable of cracking during ice wedging and precipitation, causing the structure to remain in critical condition.
