A:
The three temptations in the wilderness are not in Mark's Gospel, but came into the Gospels of Matthew and Luke from the hypothetical 'Q' document. Although using the same source document, the two authors recorded two of the temptations in different sequences. Matthew's Gospel says that the devil first tried to tempt Jesus to turn a stone into bread, then took Jesus up to the pinnacle of the Temple in Jerusalem, and then to a high mountain in order to tempt him. Luke's Gospel says that the devil tried to tempt Jesus to turn a stone into bread, then took Jesus up to a high mountain in order to tempt him, and then to the pinnacle of the Temple in Jerusalem.

I think it was the actors themselves. I say this because: (1) the credits do not indicate otherwise, and (2) I read that the actor who plays Eddie originally tried out for one of the other roles, but was selected to portray Eddie because of his great falsetto voice.
He is still in The Temptations because he formed it and he is 70 years old.He still lives in California.
