The tuatara is a small lizard-like reptile of New Zealand. Adult tuatara are nocturnal (though tending more to diurnal during cold conditions), but young tuatara tend to be diurnal, as this helps protect them from the adult tuatara which are likely to prey on the juveniles. Juveniles are also faster, enabling them to better escape from other predators.
How many offspring does the toucan produce at one time?
They lay 3 to4 eggs. Oh and other animals try to eat the eggs.
What are toucan beak made out of?
Bird beaks have several different layers. Please see the related link for detailed information.
How do toucan kill there prey?
Toucans mostly consume fruit, but they are what's called "opportunistic" omnivores because they also kill and eat small animals to get added protein. They actively hunt insects and small lizards, and use their large beaks to steal eggs and nestlings of smaller birds.
What type of group does the Toucan belong to?
toucans are a family of birds, rather than one individual species. The scientific word for the toucan family is ramphastidae, and toucans are sometimes called ramphastids. The toucan family includes aracaris, green toucanets, mountain toucans, typical (or black) toucans, and dichromatic toucanets. Within each of those groups (which are non-scientific name for genus) are several species.
Can you buy a toucan legally in Australia?
No, it is illegal in America. (incorrect see my answer below)
The above person is actually incorrect, in most of the USA keeping toucans as pets is legal, no license required. I actually own two toucans, and have spoken to a few different toucan breeders, and the one I got my toucans from is well informed on this subject (he also happens to be an attorney and founder of the American Federation of Aviculture). I've even looked at some state laws for myself. The only state I can recall off hand in which toucans are illegal to be kept as pets is Hawaii.
This all depends on the type of parrot. The Hyacinth Macaw is the largest parrot measuring just over 3 feet long, the Greenwing Macaw follows close behind at just under 3 feet with the Scarlet Macaw coming next around 2 and half feet. From there the Blue and Gold is the smallest of the large parrot family measuring at 2 feet.
After the large macaw family there are the small macaws which vary in size according to species.
So it can eat easier like fish they have to hook onto to it.
Toucans have two holes in their bills, and have internal lungs, which they use to breathe. Some toucans have bills almost as tall as them.
Why are the toucans in danger?
Because of DEFORESTATION!
Help the toucans by buying furnature from forest regeneration areas. Ask the seller for that. Say yes if they do.

Where did the toucans get their name?
the toucan got its scientific name like any other thing or object got its scientific name. It got its name by the word toucan on its own. toucan means whatever the scientific name for the toucan is.
Does the male or female toucan have brighter feathers?
Actually it depends on the toucan species. With most species the males and females have the same coloration, however it may still be possible to visually sex some despite this. Emerald toucanets for example have the same coloration regardless of gender, but there's some differences in size, and proportions that with practice make it possible to distinguish their genders visually with enough practice. However in the case of green aracaris and a few other species the males do have different coloration from females, and are quite easy to sex visually. I've never heard of a species of toucan where the male is actually more colorful than the female or vice versa however.
Toucans and all other birds are warm blooded (endothermic), even penguins.
What instinct does a toucan have?
I may be completely wrong but what ive noticed around my macaw is that they dont apreciate being left alone and given attention. They usually like being left with the cage door open so they can roam around but i dont suggest doing that if you only just your bird, wait a few monts until thw bird is comfortable with its surroundings and make sure all windows and doors are shut tight so the bird cant escape out. They can and will get either sad depressed or very angry if left alone and not given attention for a long time. Sometimes you must know your company may not be wanted and if so you should leave it alone. They are quite a cheery little friend to have and a great pet to childeren whe.n accomneid by n adual
