The northwestern islands of Hawaii overlap the Tropic of Cancer near 23.5°N 165°W, although the inhabited main islands are well south. The Florida Keys are just north of the Tropic, extending nearly to 24°N, as the line passes just north of Cuba.

The Tropic of Cancer also is called the Northern Tropic. For it's found in the Northern Hemisphere. Therefore, the only Latin American countries through which it may run are the eight countries north of the Panama Canal, and south of the United States. Of those countries, the Tropic only runs through Mexico.

The Tropics are the land and sea areas between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn which are 23.5 degrees north(Cancer) and south(Capricorn) of the Equator.
