The given limit is 3 steps, in a straight line. But if you are moving at considerable speed then it's acceptable that more may be needed, a sporting agreement!

However, if you move in an arc or turn as you come to a stop, this is considered traveling and can be called as a foul.

In the newest version of the rules there is no established step number, it is a self call but a travel will be called if you go an unreasonable amount of steps, I believe the rules state something like as many steps need to slow to a stop

The Frisbie Baking Company (1871-1958) of Bridgeport, Connecticut, made pies that were sold to many New England colleges. Hungry college students soon discovered that the empty pie tins could be tossed and caught, providing endless hours of game and sport. Many colleges have claimed to be the home of 'he who was first to fling.' Yale College has even argued that in 1820, a Yale undergraduate named Elihu Frisbie grabbed a passing collection tray from the chapel and flung it out into the campus, thereby becoming the true inventor of the Frisbie and winning glory for Yale. That tale is unlikely to be true since the words 'Frisbie's Pies' was embossed in all the original pie tins and from the word 'Frisbie' was coined the common name for the toy.

The Frisbee was made to be thrown. In Ultimate, if you do not throw the disc, then you cannot score, and nobody would ever have fun. Since throwing is the only way to advance the disc, this is what you have to do, making it the msot important aspect of Frisbee.

Well it depends on the pool. It could be outside or inside.

The hardest part is gaining enough speed to pass the reverse field. Even too much tilting of the frisbee will slow you enough to fail. Launch frisbee when 1st shark is about to slide left. Enter ring slightly right of center, this will allow you to slip by 2nd shark (it will be on you right) and then through next ring without wavering. Enter ring slightly to left of center. Enter 1st fan approx @ 7 o'clock then to 2nd fan @ approx 5 o'clock (this takes practice) get through 3rd fan on rt side so you are as close as possible to a straight line for the triple rings. These you must enter clean thru the center of each or you will not pass reverse field. Again do this with little to no tilting of the frisbee. As you improve you will get closer & closer to the exit ring, and eventually pass. The rest of the run is fairly straight forward, it will just take practice to pass the disappearing rings and 2nd set of fans.

The most important piece of equipment is a disc. You cannot play without a Frisbee! Also, you need cones to set up a field if you do not have an official field. Kleats are another important aspect of the game. Slipping can be quite embarassing.

Ultimate Frisbee is not considered an Olympic sport because it's a fairly young sport. However, Ultimate is recognized by the Olympic Committee

Other names for the frisbee include, "bee" and "disc".

The spirit of the game in ultimate Frisbee is that you follow the rules and play fair. Since there are no referees in ultimate, is is up to the players to call their own fouls and travels. Spirit of the game is that you will not cheat and you will go out their and play fairly. After the game, you will be respectful and not brag or boast.

Play is 7-a-side.

However as substitutions may be made after every point, a team at a tournament will nearly always have many more than this - 16 is a common starting point but experience, fitness, standard & length of tournament and captain's/coach's preferences amongst many others will be factors.

- On sand / indoors -

Play is 5-a-side with squads averaging 10ish/15ish.

Brodie smith is the most famous, but there are plenty of others. Like Bill "black hole" Finn and John "head full of nickels" Kolb.

An ultimate frisbee game is usually first to score 15. Sometimes, games are played to 11 or 13 instead, if there is not enough time to play to 15. Ultimate frisbee also has a time cap to control the maximum length of a game. There are usually 2 time caps. The first is called the soft cap. When the soft cap is reached, the new score to win becomes 2 more points than the team currently winning has. For example, if the score is 12-10 when the soft time cap is reached, then the game is now first to 14. The second time cap is called hard cap. At hard cap, the game is over after the next point unless the game is tied.

Handler- The quarterback of frisbee, this player is typically the best thrower on the team and must master many different types of throws.

Midfielder- This player (on offense) makes cuts to try to get open to catch a handler's throw to advance the disc. On defense, this player trys to block a certain player or area from getting the disc.

Long- This player stands in the back and either waits for a far throw (or 'huck') to go to him or for a huck to block.

Not normally. Doing so would result in a 'turnover' (possession goes to the other team). There is one exception: when a throw is made and another on-pitch player (on either team) touches the disc but does not catch it, the thrower is allowed to reclaim possession as long as the disc has not hit the ground / another out-of-bounds object.

When a team scores, the opposing team walks to the opposite end zone (the one where the scoring did not take place). Once there, the scoring team holds the disc to mark that they are ready to play. Once the opposing team has at least two players raise a hand, the scoring team throws the disc (similar to a kick off in American football) and the play continues.
