Not normally. Doing so would result in a 'turnover' (possession goes to the other team). There is one exception: when a throw is made and another on-pitch player (on either team) touches the disc but does not catch it, the thrower is allowed to reclaim possession as long as the disc has not hit the ground / another out-of-bounds object.

When a team scores, the opposing team walks to the opposite end zone (the one where the scoring did not take place). Once there, the scoring team holds the disc to mark that they are ready to play. Once the opposing team has at least two players raise a hand, the scoring team throws the disc (similar to a kick off in American football) and the play continues.

The marker is the proper term for the paintball "gun".

It is called a marker because it "marks" what it shoots with paintballs with a gas propellant instead of a "gun" which propels a metal objects with a small controlled explosion.

Ultimate Frisbee is a lot like football. There are two teams comprised of an equal number of players. The game is usually played on a football field so each team begins in their designated endzone (the field canbe shortened by determining the end zones as certain yard lines). One tea begins with the frisbee and yells out ULITMATE! before launching it to the other team (a lot like a kick off). Once a player of the other team has the frisbee they are only allowed to pivot on one leg (they're not permitted to take any steps) from here, they must throw the frisbee to another player on the team. This continues until a member of the team catches the frisbee in the end zone in which that team scores a point and the process starts over. However, if the frisbee is dropped it makes it an automatic recovery for the other team and the game continues, the same with an interception. If a frisbee is thrown out of bounds it is taken up by the other team from where it left the playing field. The game is over when a certain team has reached the designated amount of points (voted prior to the beginning of the game) or a team forfeits.

There was a Frisbie Baking Company (1871-1958) located in Bridgeport, Connecticut that provided pies to many of the nearby colleges. When the students were bored they started throwing the empty pie tin was thrown around. In 1948 Walter Morrison created and patented a plastic version that flew better than the pie tins.

There are three postitions in ultimate Frisbee. They include:

Handler- This person does most of the throwing/pulling for the team. They stay up front and are ready to quickly grab the disc and throw it.

Midfielder- As the name says, this person stays in the middle and cuts left and right to try to get open so the handler can throw to him/her. If possible, this person does want to get the disc back to the handler if they make a catch.

Long- This person mainly stays in the back and is ready to make a big sprint to catch a long throw, or "huck."

Here are four of the many ways to throw a Frisbee:

Backhand- This is the typical disc throw. When an average person picks up a disc, this is how they throw it. Take the disc with four fingers around the rim and thumb on top. Put the disc across your body and snap your wrist and point forward.

Forehand- This is more of an advanced throw. Here is the easiest way to describe it. Take your hand and make a gun with it, the barrel being your pointer and middle fingers. Put those two fingers on the outer side of the rim. Take your other two fingers and grip them on the inside of the rim. Put oyur thumb on top and hold tight. Now instead of holding the disc across your body like a backhand, hold it out to the side of you. Now snap your wrist and let go of the disc.

Hammer- This throw is tricky for beginners. Take the disc with the same grip as the forehand. When you throw this, either take a step forwards of backwards (I prefer backwards). When you are throwing the disc, you throw it at about a 45 degree angle above your head, upside down. When i say upside down, I mean the logo on the disc is facing the ground or yourself when you release it. When you release the disc over your from behind you to over your head at a 45 degree angle, put a lot of snap in your wrist. A LOT. This way the disc will flatten itself out in the air.

Scuber- This is a strategic throw and must be treated as such. The sole reason someone would throw this throw is to get the disc over and past a tough cup defense. To throw it, you hold the disc like a forehand. now hold it upside down (logo to the ground) and hold it over your shoulder. Now snap your wrist and move your hand up towards the sky so it floats high and level (parallel to the ground).

Double teaming in Ultimate Frisbee is when the handler (person with the disc) is being marked (defended) by two players at once. The rules say only one defender can be within 10 feet of the handler.

Official rules day first one to score 13, unless you have a cap (time limit) on the game.

No, you do not have to win by two in Ultimate Frisbee, just first to 13 or whatever you are playing to.

A team advances the disc in ultimate frisbee by tossing the disc to a teammate. However, if the disc hits the ground it is a turnover. Also, you may never run with the disc in ultimate (the mythical "three steps rule" does not exist-you can slow to a stop if you're in a sprint to catch the disc).

the offensive team switches to play defense and the previously defensive team picks up the disc and can attack their opponents end zone (i.e. they switch to offense).

this happens whenever the offensive team drops the disc or it hits the floor whilst they are attacking, be it through a missed-throw or if a defensive player knocks the disc to the ground. defense do not have to catch the disc to turn over the play.

Each team must line up behind the front line of their respective end zones. Once the disc is thrown, they can break their lines and run wherever they want. It is also recommended and respectable to line up and then not switch places in line. This is because sometimes players play defense using a man to man defense and choose their man by picking the player straight across from them in line.

Play is redone whenever:

1. A foul call in the endzone is disputed

2. A strip (hitting the disk out of the throwers hand while the thrower still holds it) or other foul on the thrower occurs.

3. The pull goes out of bounds and the receiving team asks for a rethrow

4. The players dispute over any call- if the dispute is over whether the disk was released in time and the throw was caught, the redo starts at stall count 8

Stripping is when the defender/mark hits the disc out of the handlers hand when they are not throwing it. Play will stop and play will continue one the disc is tapped in.

there are no age levels for this game. the only thing you need to do is catch and throw a frisbee.
