There is not a one hundred thousand dollar bill. Few people have enough money to ever need a bill that big and those who do use credit.

The U.S. did not print any $2 bills with that date.

All green-seal $2 bills dated 1976 and later are worth face value only, if found in change. There weren't any $2 bills printed in 1975. The nearest date is 1976. These are worth face value only unless they're uncirculated, in which case they sell for maybe $3 tops.

In any case most 1957 $1 silver certificates are only worth $1.25 to $2.00 in average condition, regardless of series letter.

I think you're looking at part of the serial number and not the series letter, which is next to the date. Series letters for 1935 $1 bills run from (blank) to H.

Please check your bill again to verify its date and type. The last $50 silver certificates were printed in the 19th century. Anything dated 1914 or later will say something like Federal Reserve Note or National Currency across the top.

Your new question should include the date and type, as well as the seal color and what letter if any is next to the date. All of those details are needed to give an approximate value. You don't have to copy the serial number, though.

$10 bills show Alexander Hamilton, the first Treasury Secretary and $100 bills show statesman, diplomat, and scientist Benjamin Franklin. Neither of these men served as president.

Up till 1945 the Treasury did print and issue $10,000 bills, as well as $500, $1000, and $5000 bills. The last ones were part of the 1934 series so they have that date regardless of when they actually were printed.

In an effort to combat the use of high-value bills by organized crime, President Nixon issued a 1969 order halting distribution of all denominations higher than $100 via the banking system.

High-value bills have never been formally recalled, but banks are required to keep any that they receive and send them back to the Treasury. That "soft withdrawal" process means that essentially no high-denomination bills remain in circulation today. Plus in any case it wouldn't make much sense to spend one if you do have it; except for very worn bills almost all high-denomination banknotes are worth more than their face value as collectibles.

The first federally issued $1 bills were printed in 1862. However before that many private banks printed $1 bills, and bills with that denomination were also printed by many jurisdictions during the colonial period.

The red ink indicates your bill is a United States Note, a now-obsolete form of paper money that was similar to current Federal Reserve Notes. Small-size $5 US Notes were issued from 1928 to 1963 so without a date and series letter it's not possible to give a specific price. There's no such bill. Specifically:

1. The last silver certificates were $1 notes made in the 1957 series.

2. No $2 silver certificates have been printed since the 19th century

3. No U.S. $2 bills were made in 1978. The nearest date is 1976.

Bottom line, if you have a green-seal $2 bill dated 1976 or later it's a current-issue bill worth only face value in circulated condition, or about $2.50 - $3.00 if uncirculated.

The US didn't even exist in 1774 so there couldn't be any bill in dollars with that date, only pounds and shillings.

Are you sure you didn't misread the 1776 date on the back of a modern $2 bill honoring the Declaration of Independence?

Bills with this error can sell for anywhere from $100 to $200 depending on their condition and how far out of sync the two numbers are.

Mismatched serial numbers can occur when one of the counters that prints the numbers gets stuck and doesn't keep in sync with the other one.

US currency bills are are 2.61 inches wide and 6.14 inches long; they are .0043 inches thick and weigh 1 gram.

US 1974 $100 bills were only issued in one series so there were none printed with a letter after the date. Perhaps you're looking at the Federal Reserve District letter or a plate-position indicator.

The highest series letter for this date is B. You're probably looking at part of the serial number or a plate number. Regardless of series letter, this is one of the most common silver certificates available and retails for $1.25-$1.50. A dealer will pay $1.
