You can tell if an old $20 bill is fake by holding it up to a light source and looking for a security thread. If the bill is real, it will have a vertical thread embedded in the left front side. If the bill is fake, the thread will be missing.

The $10 and $100 bills do not feature Presidents. The $10 has Alexander Hamilton, who was the first US Secretary of the Treasury, and the $100 has Benjamin Franklin.

Check that bill again. There's no such thing as a US series 1986 $2 bill.

This is a novelty item produced by a private company that added gold leaf to a normal $2 bill. The gold "accents" make it an altered item with no added numismatic value, although there are novelty-item collectors who may pay a bit extra for one of these bills if it's in its original packaging.

The bad news is that depending on its series letter, an UN-altered 1928 $2 bill could be worth well into 3 figures. You just have to hope that the company that added the gold leaf had someone make sure none of the particularly valuable ones were altered.

The fact that it has a T in the serial number neither identifies the bill nor affects its value. 1957 is the most common date for $1 silver certificates. In anything but top-quality condition it's worth at most $2, generally closer to $1.50.

In spite of its age, 1969-series $10 bills are common among collectors. As of 03/3013 approximate retail values are $12 in average condition and $17.50 for a crisp, uncirculated bill.

The number "20" appears 90 times in yellow on the back in small print in an anti-counterfeiting constellation form. The number 20 also appears four more times on the back corners, as well as 4 times on the front at the corners.. The word "Twenty" is found once on the back and four times on the front. = 103... So far.

If you look at the micro printing on the bill and also the mylar tape, you would find a bunch more, but they're too tedious to count.

The only $50 bills dated 1918 were National Currency Notes with blue seals. If that's what you have you will need to have it authenticated by a currency expert because these bills are quite rare. As of 07/2012 a genuine 1918 NC note retails for anywhere from $4,000 in worn condition to over $10,000 if uncirculated.

It depends on what you mean by "odd". Among modern paper money first introduced in 1928, the only unusual bills were in the 1935-A series.

Some of these were printed using experimental presses and have extra letters R or S on the front in blue or red ink.

During WWII, special 1935-A $1 bills were printed with brown ink for use in Hawaii, and yellow ink for use in North Africa. The unusual colors were used so that the bills could be easily identified and declared worthless if they fell into enemy hands.
