Why did the Treasury make a 1957 series of US 1 dollar silver certificates?
Up till 1974 the standard practice was to change series dates only when a bill underwent a major redesign. Thus it's seemingly odd that 1957 $1 bills carry essentially the same design as bills from the 1935 series. The reason happened behind the scenes:
Rather than being printed one at a time, all US bills are printed in groups on large sheets of paper before being cut into individual bills. Until 1957 the presses used by Bureau of Engraving and Printing could only hold sheets large enough for a group of 18 bills. That year the BEP started phasing in new, more-efficient presses that could produce 32 bills at a time. To keep production runs distinct during the transition period, the 1957 series was used for all $1 bills printed on the new presses while bills produced on the old presses continued to carry a 1935 series date. That unusual situation, which saw simultaneous production of series dated 22 years apart, continued until 1963.

When was in God we trust added to the five dollar bill?
The motto was added to $5 bills beginning with the 1963 series. It had been added to $1 bills in 1957.
Congress passed a law in 1955, at the height (or depth, depending on your views) of Cold War tensions with the Soviet Union, mandating the phrase on US paper currency. It was seen as a way of distinguishing the US from the "godless communists" who at that time threatened western democracies.
The motto first appeared on 2¢ coins in 1864 (during the Civil War) and was gradually added to all denominations after that time. However, it was never put on paper money until the 1955 law was written.

Are any US 100 dollar bills worth more than face value?
Very definitely, although you have to go back to earlier dates versus lower-denomination bills that are subject to more use and thus wear out faster.
Dates to look for include 1966 (with red seals); 1950 E in any condition; other 1950-series bills with little wear; 1934 series, again with little wear, and any bills dated 1929 or earlier. Large-size $100 bills dated 1918 and earlier are particularly valuable with prices ranging from several hundred to many thousands of dollars depending on their dates and conditions.
What is the value of a 1957 US 1 dollar bill?
1957 US $1 silver certificates are common among collectors. In circulated condition it has little added value - maybe 50 cents extra. A nice crisp uncirculated one may be worth $3 to $6 or more.
Blue Ink
All silver certificates dated 1928 to 1957 had blue seals and serial numbers. That color was used to distinguish the bills from other bills (Federal Reserve Notes, United States Notes) that were also issued. Today only green-seal Federal Reserve Notes are produced.
Serial Numbers
A bill's serial number is just a counter so including it in a question generally doesn't help to identify it or affect its value. There are collectors who will pay a premium for bills with low or patterned serial numbers; e.g.12345678 or 00000005.
Silver Value
It's no longer possible to redeem silver certificates for silver metal. That practice was ended after the price of silver was deregulated, to prevent people from "gaming" the exchange process by trading bills for metal and vice versa as rates fluctuated.
Silver Certificates were abolished by Congress on June 4, 1963 and all redemption in silver ceased on June 24, 1968. However the bills have never been withdrawn or demonetized so they're still valid legal tender at face value.

In God We Trust

Serial Numbers
