No, there was never a $3 bill. There was however, a $3 gold coin produced for a very short time. And there was a 3 cent bill produced during the coin shortage of the American Civil War. There were also 2 three cent coins, a tiny coin made out of silver which was then replaced with a larger coin made out of mostly nickel.

The 1934 series only extends to the letter D. You may be looking at the Federal Reserve Bank letter with the series letter; that's next to the date, not in the center of the seal.

If they're modern bills (1976 or later) the fact that they're consecutive doesn't add much to the value. Uncirculated ones would sell for about $3, and anything with wear would sell for face value or a few cents more.

No. Production of high-denomination ($500 and above) US bills ended in 1945 due to low demand. Banks were permitted to distribute the bills until 1969, when President Nixon issued an order ending distribution. The move was a step in fighting organized crime which favored high-value bills for moving large amounts of money undetected.

The bills were never demonetized or specifically recalled. (In fact, the US has never demonetized any bills issued in the 20th century, and only gold certificates were withdrawn.) Very few were in circulation anyway and banks were instructed to send any they received back to the Treasury, so they were effectively removed from circulation without being recalled.

It's actually the fr229a that is worth substantially more due to rarity. Less than 100 of these are known to exist in all grades. A High graded fr229a is extremely valuable and can approach $20,000
