What did the velociraptor use for attack the enermy?
Velociraptor was small, at only 6 feet in length, 2 feet in height, and a weight of only 33 lbs. However, they were formidable for their size. They not only had their jaws and teeth, but strong arms and hands, each hand with three long claws. Their special weapon was a 2.6 inch long, curved claw on one toe of each foot. If attacked, Velociraptor could put any of these to use in order to escape. They were also fast, so they could outrun most danger if they saw it coming. When hunting large prey such as Protoceratops, the sickle claw was used to severe the blood vessels and windpipe in the throat to kill prey, but it was capable of stabbing through any soft tissue.
Is the velociraptor a reptile?
Yes. Velociraptor was very bird like. If you were to see a live one your first impression would probably be of a very odd bird. It was covered in feathers that left its arms looking like wings and was probably warm blooded.
The velociraptor is not three feet tall it is about 5-6 feet tall.
Did the velociraptors lay eggs?
YSE VELOCIRAPTORS LAYED EGGS.ONLY THE FEMALES LAYED EGGS.THEY OFTEN LAYED EGGS IN OR NEXT TO HUGE TREES.
What parts of the world was velociraptors found?
Velociraptor fossils are found entirely in Asia, specifically in what is now the Gobi Desert in Mongolia. These often date back 75 million years or so, which wasn't very long for the continents to drift very far. Odds are, they lived in a desert environment very similar to what Mongolia looks like today.
What is difference between velociraptor and diplodocus?
"Raptor" is a slang term often applied to dinosaurs in the family dromaeosauridae. Velociraptor was one of a number of members of this family. It is belived that the word raptor even originates from the name velociraptor.
The term raptor can also be used to describe a modern bird of prey.
What noises did velociraptors make?
The noises made by a dinosaur depended on the dinosaur's species. Because soft tissue is extremely rare to find preserved, very few dinosaur noises can be accurately theorized. Notable exceptions to this can be found in the crested herbovore species (i.e. Parasaurolophus) whose crests included hollw tubes not unlike a musical instrument. In general though, dinosaurs, by comparison to similar animals today probably made hissing, grunting, bellowing, roaring, chirping, birdsong, and/or growling noises. However, as with dinosaur coloration, all of this is speculation and, since no one has ever seen a live dinosaur, no one knows for sure.
Actually velociraptors did not eat everything. It ate anything from small lizards to medium sized hadrosaurids (duckbills). Velociraptors would have had to avoid Tarbosaurus. Velociraptors also had great hunting ability, one of their great tactics was speed. They were fast movers because they didn't have to breath out. Their breath seeped in through their body and went into small pours in the bones which seeped out of the skin allowing Velociraptor to run at 40 mph. Velociraptors also had a 3 1/2 in long claw that was extended to 5 in with it's sheath. This claw may have been used for piercing the throat, rather than for disemboweling. This would be a much more lethal approach than any of today's raptors practice.
Another perspective:
Scientists believe that velociraptors were carnivores(meat eaters). They probably fed on: carrion (dead animals), kills that they could take away from other animals, and anything else that they could run down and kill.
Their diet must have consisted of a wide variety of animals because they really were very fast on their feet, had teeth that would have been very handy for holding and tearing, and they had a comparatively large, exaggerated claw (approximately 13cm), on each of their middle toes. These claws might have been used in piercing or ripping their prey and in self defense. There is also speculation that they may have hunted in packs, using cooperative techniques. If this is true, they could probably have preyed on animals significantly larger than themselves.
With some adjustments made for the differences in size and lack of flight ability, a comparison of the diets of owls and eagles (modern raptors), might inspire visions of what velociraptors ate. They may well have eaten mostly mammals (all very small then), reptiles, amphibians, and other dinosaurs, smaller and/or slower than themselves.
It should also be noted that: the actual animals, while they could still have ruined your day, were less imposing than what was depicted in the Movie, Jurassic Park. Further, the movie animals were not velociraptors at all, but of a totally different genus, probably modeled from Deinonychus. The real velociraptors (Velociraptor mongoliensis) sported feathers and were smaller and lighter (turkey size) than those depicted in the movie.
How many velociraptors are in one pack?
i am no expert but i would believe a pack would be used to take large prey then of the Rex s themselves, if not it would have to be small. 3, or 4 so there would be enough food to go around. the larger adult female, younger adult father, juvenile son or daughter, and infant...just a very shallow guess...
What were the life spans of dinosaurs?
Scientists do not know the exact lifespan of dinosaurs, but they estimate that they lived about 75 to 300 years. Animal lifespans relate in part to their body size and in part to their type of metabolism. Their possible maximum age can be estimated from the maximum lifespans of modern reptiles, such as the 66-year lifespan of the common alligator and the impressive lifespan of some tortoises.
One specimen of the now-extinct Black Seychelles Tortoise, which was an adult when captured, lived a record 152 years in captivity (1766-1918) and had an accidental death. These estimates, based on lifespans of cold-blooded animals, would be too long if dinosaurs had metabolisms more similar to modern birds and mammals.
Where is the velociraptors shelter?
Velociraptor lived in what is now Mongolia and north-central China between 75 and 71 million years ago. This area was a desert at the time, complete with vast areas of sand dunes and frequent sandstorms. Life was sustained by scattered creeks, which would be surrounded by vegetation. Plants were sparse except near sources of water, where there would be oases. Types of plants include conifers, cycads, ginkgoes, ferns, horsetails, and early angiosperms, such as primitive grasses and palm trees.
What does a velociraptor behavior like?
Velociraptor probably spent the day sleeping alone; they were probably solitary. Around sunset, they would set out to go hunting for small animals, carcasses to scavenge, or even for Protoceratops. They probably drank water every night or two.
Velociraptor would lay their eggs in nests, and they would sit on the eggs to incubate them. After the eggs hatched, the mother would care for the babies.
What dinosaurs is the velociraptor related to?
Velociraptor belongs to the Dromaeosaur family which currently has over 20 different species. Achillobator Adasaurus Atrociraptor Austroraptor Bambiraptor Buitreraptor Cryptovolans Deinonychus Dromaeosauroides Dromaeosaurus Graciliraptor Hesperonychus Itemirus Luanchuanraptor Mahakala Microraptor Neuquenraptor Nuthetes Pyroraptor Rahonavis Saurornitholestes Shanag Sinornithosaurus Tsaagan Unenlagia Unquillosaurus Utahraptor Velociraptor
What is smarter velociraptor or T-Rex?
The velociraptor was smarter than the T-Rex.
The T-Rex was large and clumsy. It hunted prey chaotically.
The Velociraptor on the other hand worked as a team, a pack, to bring down prey. They would hunt in groups and pass on information in the form of sounds and body language. A pack of Velociraptors can very easily kill a large T-Rex.
Where were velociraptors found?
No velociraptor fossils have been found in the U.S. They have only been found in Mongolia and China. However, relatives of velociraptor, such as Utahraptor have been found in the U.S.
How did the dinosaur velociraptor's anatomy affect it's life?
He was eally big and he has a humugus head.. so his arms shrunk aned thats how atonomy took its place in his body . it effected as he had small arms he had no use of it he barely used its arms
What are some velociraptor adaptations?
Velociraptor was noctournal, which was an adaptation to cope with the heat in the desert. They were agile and fast, which helped them to escape threats and also to catch prey. The third major adaptation of Velociraptor was its sickle claw on each foot. They used their sickle claws to stab prey like Protoceratops in the throat and thus kill it for food.

Raptor is a term used to describe Birds of Prey. A baby eagle is an eaglet. A baby falcon is an eyas. A baby owl is an owlet.
Are Velociraptors still alive?
Absolutely not. They went extinct 65 million years ago (m.y.a.) along with all the other ancient reptiles.
What animal evolved from the velociraptor?
Velociraptor doesn't have any descendants. The closest living relatives of Velociraptors are birds. Both birds and Velociraptor evolved from a common ancestor. All birds are equally related to Velociraptor.
Modern consensus states that the velociraptor lived in Eastern Asia. This would suggest that there would have been no need for swimming, due to the fact that Eastern Asia is mostly plains and desert.
What kind of food did the velociraptor eat?
There was only one predator that lived at the same time and place as Velociraptor and was more formidable. It is only known from fragmentary remains, but it may be Alectrosaurus. Alectrosaurus was a 17 foot long tyrannosaur. Velociraptor would probably do its best to steer clear of them.
