For playoff games, after a 5-minute rest from full time, golden goal time is normally either 7.5 minutes or 15 minutes (2 x 7.5 with no break between). This can add up to 20 minutes more. A penalty stroke can then take 10 minutes for the completion of the first round of 5 players each taking a penalty and then about 2 minutes for each round of sudden death. Games that reach this stage normally finish in slightly over 2 hours.
Ice Hockey:A regulation ice hockey game consists 3 x 20-minute periods, with 2 x 10-minute intermissions between the 1st and 2nd periods.
Playoff games then vary in how they finish: some use extra periods of golden goal, which are played for 20 minutes with a 10-minute break between them (basically, continuing the game) for as long as it takes. Otherwise, penalty shots can be used, and these are normally around 10 minutes for the whole set to be finished.

Why do women wear thongs for water polo?
Water polo players try to grab each other's suits to yank their opponent out of the way or pull them underwater. To reduce that ability, the players wear small suits so they'll be ultra-tight and hard for their opponents to grab. On many of the players, the suits are so small that as they play the suit pulls up into a wedgie that looks like a thong, and they don't bother pulling out the bottom again until they come out of the water. Actually, there's no point, because a favorite grabbing point is the rear part of the suit. No rear fabric= no rear grabbing point.
Because of the advantage of a thong back a few swimsuit manufacturers now make competition suits in both full-back and thong-back models so players can pick what type of back they like, and all team memmbers can have the same colors. The Realise company of Japan has even brought out a new Polo suit line made out of a slippery, hard-to-grab material that can be ordered in wither regular or thong back styles.

For one team: You have a centre who starts the draw in the middle of the field (in the centre circle), you have two wings on each side of the centre circle with their backs to your goal (they are attacking) and two wings on the other side of the centre circle with their backs to the opositions goal (they are defenders.) You also have one attacker standing a few metres away from the attackers on the centre circle and one defender doing the same behind the defenders on the centre circle. you then have a straight attack right near your goal and a straight defence right near the opositions goal, you also have a goalie. If you were playing with more players you would just add another attacker and another defender near the others off the centre circle. =)
How do you start a water polo game?
To start a soccer game you begin with a kickoff. The referee will call for a captain from each team to decide which team will get the first kickoff and which team will start on which side of the field. Often this is done by flipping a coin. Whoever wins the coin toss will have the choice of the kickoff or side of the field. The ball will be placed in the center of the field and the team doing the kickoff will have a player or two in the center circle while the other team must stay out side of the circle until the ball is played. The referee will signal the start of the game, the ball will be played, and the game begins.
