I have been playing water polo for almost half of my life and I have never heard of a heplathon. A heptathlon is a track and field event mainly for women where they all do the same seven events: 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200-meter dash, long jump, javelin, and 800-meter run.

The dimensions of a water polo pool are difined by FINA rule WP 1.4. These state the distance between the goal lines (i.e. the length of the pitch) should be between 20m and 30m for men and between 20m and 25 m for women. The width of the pitch must be between 10m and 20m. In addition the boundary of the field of play must be 0.3m behind the goal line. Additionally for top class water polo matches the water must be a minimum of 1.8 meters deep, though this can be overlooked for junior or lower class games if that depth is not available for the whole field of play. If the game is played in a shallower pool in which the players can reach the bottom they cannot use the bottom for their advantage (i.e. touch or jump off it) unless they are playing in goal. The goal keeper is the only player allowed to touch the bottom of the pool (not the side) and even then they can only do this within the 5m area (i.e. 5m from their goal line)

Think about it, a water polo player has to compete against fellow athletes in a swimming pool without touching the bottom or sides for potentially an hour during a match. To achieve this level of fitness they have to do swimming training every day plus weights and other cardio work. A jockey rides a horse up to six times per meeting and on different horses. Then there's the hours spent riding on the 'gallops' from daybreak to dusk every day racing does not occur, in all weathers,and then the constant workouts and strict dieting to make weight. A question like this goes down to opinion really, especially with something as general as prestige. Most organizations would claim their award to be the most prestigious given the chance. The claim that holds the most water (excuse the pun) would probably be the Olympics, an event that is recognized worldwide as being prestigious and one of the oldest international water polo events, with the sport being introduced in the early part of the 20th century.

Yes, goalies can and do score. However, it does not happen often. Goalies usually shoot the last shot of a quarter or game, or if they notice that the other goalie is not paying attention or has come out of the cage. The better the players and the higher the level of competition, the less likely the shot will go in.

Water polo because you can get drowned i played both but water polo players and the goalies have to swim from 1 mile to 20 miles a game. On top of that they have to try and get the ball past the goalie and the def in 30 sec and if its a 3 feet pool they still cant tough the bottom (unless your the goalie.) I have also been playing soccer for 12 years water polo players are aloud to punch the person there defending but in soccer if you even hit the person your def you could get a yellow or red card depending on the reff. You can get a broken ankle in soccer but it does not compare to an injery in water polo

They usually make the pool too deep for the players to touch, and if they are able to touch it; it is deep enough for the refs to notice

Those are two different brand names of water polo ball.

Actually a kiefer water polo ball is different then a mikasa because it is heavier and comes in number sizes. A mikasa just comes in men and women
