How many game shows besides Wheel of Fortune has Pat Sajak regularly hosted?

Pat Sajak and Vanna White recently extended the contract with Sony pictures until the year 2014 in a recent announcement. They did not make the salary arrangements public at that time nor have they since Sony pictures has been signing contracts with Pat Sajak and Vanna White. What is known is that they have the number one syndicated show on TV and have had it for a number of years. That demands a high salary. Estimates of 5 to 10 million a season that have been made and are just estimates. Based on what has been paid for the hosts of less successful shows I expect it to be in the low eight figure range because the ratings and popularity support a figure in that range. But again that is a guess because the actual salaries are private and not part of the public record. Conan was paid that much not to do his show.

When Wheel of Fortune first began didn't they win money and then had to buy prizes with it?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The daytime show that had prizes ended over 20 years ago and the current Syndicated Wheel of Fortune does not add the history of the network daytime program to it's show's history. In any case it would not be a simple answer like they purchased them, got them from a sponsor, got them from advertisers, were chosen by the network, came from props or from the producers choices and more like some or all of the above including the Dalamation that was often chosen as a reacurring prize

Did Vanna White ever do drugs?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes, in her autobiography ''Vanna Speaks'', Vanna writes about her drug use:

(1) "In 1974, my junior year of high school, I was student council vice president and a member of the Honor Society. I was a cheerleader and had once again come in runner up in the Miss North Myrtle Beach High School pagent. That summer I'd also been in the Sun Fun pageant but hadn't won that one either. I lost interest in Cary and fell in love with Jimmy Riddle, smoked pot for the first time and made my dramatic debut in our class production of ''A Portrait of Jenny''.

(2) "I made friends with my roommates. One was a very demure southern girl while the other two were rather wild. I smoked some pot with the two wilder girls and came home with an intense case of the munchies that I ate an entire meatloaf."

(3) "Casey [Ortez] and I were from similar backgrounds and shared a common goal: to make it in show business. He'd been a football hero in his hometown of Dallas and he wanted to work as an actor and a stuntman.

I liked him right away, and we dated very steadily. Casey always liked challenges. He would drive fast and was quite a daredevil. This recklessness also included us drinking and occasionally smoking pot and doing cocaine."

The current version of Wheel does not count the daytime series as part of its history or episode count, declining to recognize that the game has aired continuously on television since 1975. Who has replaced Vanna White when she has been out?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Vanna White has not been out because they they are never live. The old daytime show was a network show and may have worked differently, but that was over 20 years ago. The programs are taped for a week's time in a single day. A few days are always Taped in a row even when they are on location. They work less than forty days a year taping episodes during about a dozen different times over a year.

Vanna was replaced in the 80s or 90s. Vanna was never replaced in the daytime or nighttime show I watched at least one show of a young beautiful girl, alleged to be Merv's girlfriend. (Was Chuck Woolery host it could have been am early gameshow episode) Vanna was having a dispute over her contract and did not show up to tape the shows. (Would have been reported on some site and findable on the internet) Vanna's friend called Vanna and told her she had better get there in a hurry. When she arrived they had already taped 5 shows. The show with Vanna's replacement was aired and as I stated I watched at least one show. LOL

The above never happened on the nighttime show. It is true that it has had another host or letter turner and that was Alex Trebek and Lesly Sajak while Pat and Vanna Played the game.

How is it determined who goes to the bonus round in Wheel of Fortune if two people have the same amount of money?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

They come back the next day if they tie in the old daytime show. On the nighttime show they play a speed up round with the tied players and this happened back in 1988 or December 1987 see related links

Why does the contestant have to hand the final prize envelope to Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In order for the game to be validated, the show host must have possession of this special prize envelope. A shrews contestant could conceivably have another envelope in his pocket and substitute it for the real one. It just keeps honest people honest and removes any doubt that the prize in the envelope is genuine.

also so they don't peek!!! you now that's hard to hold and not look!!! :-,)

Who is the smallest winner on Wheel of Fortune?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Puzzles have been solved after having only one or two letters of the puzzle uncovered on many occasions. They only allow ten seconds for a contestant to solve the bonus puzzle and most that solve it do so well before they are buzzed out. When the speed up round on the last puzzle before the bonus puzzle starts a contestant has only three seconds to solve the puzzle after Vanna completes turning the letters over. There's no clock to determine the number of seconds it took someone to solve the puzzle and many times a person will decide to gamble and keep spinning the wheel trying to win more money than to quickly solve a puzzle. You can determine by the contestants choice of letters that they have already solved the puzzle and are continuing to spin to make more money. It's a risk and they know that luck and skill are both parts of the game. It's a show to try to win money and not to quickly buzz in and solve the puzzle except for three times a night. Even for those three puzzles some contestants wait to confirm their possible answer by allowing more letters to turn over rather than to quickly make a guess on a possible solution. However the have been times when those puzzles have been buzzed to be solved even before the first letter was finished being turned by Vanna White.

Over 7,500 when both her Daytime and Nighttime episodes are combined. Her Daytime episodes began on December 13 1982 just 1 year after Pat Sajak started the show in December 28 1981 and continued after Pat left the Show on January 9 1989 until the Daytime show's cancellation in 1991. Both Pat Sajak and Vanna White started the Nighttime Wheel of Fortune on it's premiere of September 19 1983 and have been with the show since then. So Vanna White actually has the most Wheel of Fortune episodes between her and Pat Sajak
