Wheel of Fortune - 1983 Big Money Week 2 19-37 was released on:

The nighttime syndicated Wheel of Fortune show is not considered to be part of earlier versions of the game show with the same name. Therefore Pat Sajak and Vanna White are the only Host and Hostess of Wheel of Fortune since it started broadcasting on September 19 1983. The daytime Wheel of Fortune show which Pat Sajak hosted from 1981 until he left in 1989 was canceled in 1991. That show was originaly hosted by Chuck Woolery from 1971 until 1981. After Pat Sajak left in 1989 it was hosted by Rolf Benirschke until he was replaced by Bob Goen who hosted during the remaining part of 1989 until the show was canceled in 1991. Vanna White started the daytime show in 1982 replacing Susan Stafford as Hostess and staying until the show's cancellation in 1991. She has been the only hostess of the nighttime Wheel of Fortune except for an April Fool's Day when Vanna White and Pat Sajak were contestants and Pat's wife Lesly Sajak was Hostess and Alex Trebek was host.

They are not Vanna White's clothes. They are normally only worn for her for a single show.

As for some of the more than 5,000 dresses she has worn, Vanna herself has said that most outfits are returned to their designers, and most of the remaining clothes are donated to charity.

As for the question "Did she get to keep the clothes?" -- she answered "Where would she keep them all or find occasions to wear them?"

Vanna said that she sometimes buys an outfit that she really loves, if she has an event that she plans to attend. After she wears an outfit in public, she usually donates it to charities such as the Go Red for Women campaign. Many of the clothes that she wears are sample sizes that other models can wear on the runways to show off the designs at fashion shows. After Vanna does the show, those clothes that are sample sizes go back to the designer. Wheel of Fortune tapes 5 shows on the same day, and on numerous occasions the dresses for that day are all by the same designer. When the day's taping is completed, the dresses are just shipped back to the designer.

Vanna also sent out a message about the shoes that she wears: they are all her shoes and that the heels are from two to five inches high, so that she has shoes for every dress no matter how long or short. She stated that she is afraid to count how many pairs she has, but they are kept at the Studio where she wears them throughout the year. They come in every color including purple, orange, and green.

What wheel of Fortune does is Tape about 200 new episodes a viewing season for showing on the syndicated channels from Monday through Friday. For the 26th season the new episodes were aired starting on September 8 2008 until the last Friday in May. The first show that was not a new show this season aired on 1 Jun 2009 and was a repeat of an episode that first aired on Nov 12 2008. The shows scheduled for the current week of Jun 8-12 were episodes that first aired on the week of February 2-6 2009. Next week episodes that first aired during the week of Oct 20-24 2008 are scheduled to be repeated. Not all the episodes from the 26th season are repeated because new shows for the 27th season of Wheel of Fortune are scheduled to began on September 14 2009. Some of the remaining 26th season episodes will be repeated on Saturdays beginning with the first Saturday of the New 27th season on 14 September 2009 and continuing until the 28th season begins in September 2010.

The commercials sold by local channels pay for the show, as do payments by the makers of products mentioned during the show (such as the automobile manufacturers whose cars are shown).

Local stations or groups of stations pay a fee to the syndication company to air the show - these fees can be tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars per show. The local stations sell commercial time to sponsors. It is a multi-million dollar operation, as indicated by the hefty salaries paid to various game show hosts.

Pat Sajak and Vanna White recently extended the contract with Sony pictures until the year 2014 in a recent announcement. They did not make the salary arrangements public at that time nor have they since Sony pictures has been signing contracts with Pat Sajak and Vanna White. What is known is that they have the number one syndicated show on TV and have had it for a number of years. That demands a high salary. Estimates of 5 to 10 million a season that have been made and are just estimates. Based on what has been paid for the hosts of less successful shows I expect it to be in the low eight figure range because the ratings and popularity support a figure in that range. But again that is a guess because the actual salaries are private and not part of the public record. Conan was paid that much not to do his show.

They have hosted the nighttime version of Wheel of Fortune since the show started on September 19 1983. They also both hosted the daytime show together before the nighttime show started and for many years they were on both the daytime and nightime shows until Pat Sajak left the daytime show in 1989. Vanna White continued to do both shows until the daytime show was cancelled in 1991.

Estimates of $5 to 10 million a season have been made, but their salaries are private and the estimates are unconfirmed. Wheel of Fortune has been the number 1 syndicated show since it began in 1983 and announced that they have given away over $190 million just in prizes. They do not announce what they pay there hosts, however.

The Wheel of Fortune has tryouts in a city when the WheelMobile visits that city. Thousands of people show up with applications to become a contestant. People with applications are chosen at random to enter the Wheel Mobile in groups of five to play the speed up round version of Wheel of Fortune If they find you successful then you still have another round off elimination before you have a chance to be on the show. If you want to know when the Wheel mobile will be in a city near you you can sign up to be a contestant and they notify you when the Wheel Mobile is visiting close to your area. They discourage anyone from incurring expenses in an attempt to be a contestant. Of the million people who apply to become a contestant only six hundred get to be on the show.

Pat Sajak and his wife Lesley Brown Sajak have a son named Patrick and a daughter, Maggie . They live in Severna Park, Maryland. They own a second home in Los Angeles, California.
