The World Baseball Classic is a baseball tournament that the North American’s Major League Baseball players who play for their team play against teams from various other countries such as Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, Japan, Australia, Canada, China, China Taipei, Dominican Republic, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Africa and the Netherlands. The inaugural World Baseball Classic was in 2006 and the 2nd one was in 2009 and now it’ll be on a rotation of every 4 years. He went a few years without playing with any team in the Major Leagues however he returned in 1965 and played with the Kansas City Athletics however he only appeared in 1 game, a game in which he started and he only pitched 3 innings.

There were 16 countries that participated in the 2006 World Baseball Classic and they were the U.S., Canada, Mexico, China, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Japan, South Africa, Cuba, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Panama, Australia, Italy, Dominican Republic and Venezuela, the 16 teams were split up into four pools for the tournament - A, B, C and D - Pool A consisted of Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei and China, Pool B consisted of South Africa, the U.S, Canada and Mexico, Pool C consisted of Puerto Rico, Panama, Cuba and Netherlands and Pool D which consisted of Italy, Australia, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
