Zebras

Described as a "horse in striped pajamas," three species of zebra inhabit Africa. They are equiids, which means they are members of the horse family and are odd-toed ungulates. Zebras inhabit tropical grasslands in sub-Saharan Africa. Social herd animals, they live in groups called harems. Their distinctive black and white stripes have made them a favorite of children for many generations.

Are zebras unicellular?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes. Almost every animal is multicellular and composed of more than one cell. There are a couple exceptions that are the border between animals and protazoa. Is this a joke? Yes, giraffes are multicellular organisms. What do you think they are; giant walking amebae with spots? As a rule of thumb if it's not microscopic and if it doesn't engulf other organisms inside of its cytoplasm then it is probably a multicellular organism.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Zebras are herbivores. This means they eat plants.

Plants grow because of the light energy they take in from the sun. They use this light energy with water and chlorophyll to make sugar for themselves.

When they eat the plants, this means they are also taking in light energy that the plant has taken in!

SUNLIGHT------------> PLANT----------------->ZEBRA

Asked by Wiki User

The species is listed as Endangered. The Cape Mountain zebra was hunted to near extinction with less than 100 individuals by the 1930s. However the population has increased to about 700 due to conservation efforts. Both Mountain zebra subspecies are currently protected in national parks but are still endangered. There is a European zoo's Endangered Species Programme for this zebra as well as co-operative management of zoo populations worldwide.
