I don't believe it is the technology that deceives us, nor the promise of technology, but the humans that are selling us on the technology that do the majority of the deception. Deception may be too harsh a word, as most of the time the folks selling us on technology concepts may not fully understand the technology themselves. Thus creating the issue. People don't see that we're creating our own stupidity by dumbing ourselves down with new technology.
