That completely depends on their job description and experience. This is just like any other job. How much does a retail employee make? Manager? Shift lead? There is no standard salary.

I am a BPOS Tier 2 employee and work a contract and a room mate of mine is an orange badge Microsoft contractor, and he makes nearly double what I do.

Sorry I do not really know if that information is even available. I do know that well known companies often pay less since they get employees interested in "name recognition" for their resume.

MS does employ many very bright people, although I would personally prefer to work for Google or other competitors.

That would depend on the job you are doing. Some jobs are better paid than others. There would be a wide range of rates of pay in Microsoft or any company.
