was told there's a rev counter "unit" somewhere, Haine's manual has nothing, let us know if you sorted it? == Believe rev counter engine speed pickup is from the alternator. Had Rover 218TD with same engine, alternator went and rev counter stopped working. There were 3 wires to alternator, big thick red one, alternator light one and the rev counter feed. Hope this helps peter
A failed instrument cluster.
A tachometer on a 1997 Plymouth Breeze may not work due to several reasons, including a faulty ignition coil, a broken connection in the wiring, or a malfunctioning instrument cluster. Additionally, issues with the engine's computer or a failed crankshaft position sensor can also prevent the tachometer from registering engine RPMs. Inspecting these components and connections can help determine the cause of the malfunction.
Most likely one of the control rods have come loose. It COULD be the lock mechanism, but probably not.
you could be low on coolant
Yes....the peugeot 306 has power stering, and the earlier models have it also
it could be the window
To fix a non-working tachometer on a 1997 Ford F150 with a 4.6L engine, first check the connection at the back of the instrument cluster for any loose or corroded wires. Next, verify that the signal from the ignition system is reaching the tachometer by testing the signal wire for voltage with a multimeter. If the wiring is intact and the signal is present, consider replacing the tachometer itself or checking the powertrain control module (PCM) for issues, as it controls the signal sent to the tachometer. If the problem persists, consult a professional mechanic for further diagnostics.

You drive slow and change gears too soon.
I have a problem with my Peugeot 306 deasel pump its not idling
I was looking at the drawings of the instrument panel ( gauge cluster ) in the 1997 Ford Crown Victoria Owner Guide and it doesn't have a factory tachometer
