What is the advantage of using an apple computer instead of a PC?

Well, they are made by 2 different companies. Also, they have different features, settings, programs, compatibilty and options. They are the same in some ways, but different in others. Apple Computers (Mac's) are thought to be better than Windows Computers, but this is only certain people's opnions. Anotehr difference is that Mac's apparently also run better, but the noticeable difference, isn't about the Computers themselves, its more about the Price!

Another, more important thing is that Apple Computers are normally used for composing and making things, like music, programming etc etc.

Also, for the last few years apples have been able to use windows applications without the use of emulators. There is now a program called bootcamp that allows you to partition your hard drive to include leopard and xp or vista on the same computer.

Depends on what you're doing. For example if you're doing video editing late in this production on programmes such as Final Cut Pro an Apple Computer is is the one for you. Should you be doing things like in gaming on proprietary based engines like ones that are used on most PCs, then you should get a PC and probably upgrade it as well.

Well, Apple computers are considered PC's. It's short for Personal Computer. It's just another out of control misnomer. The only difference is the Operating system and who makes the computer itself.

Microsoft makes the Widows OS software only and does not make any computers. It is used by other computer manufacturers like Dell, Gateway, Asus, etc, that buys a license for a copy of Windows to put on their computers to sell to you. The upside is they only have to work on the operating system and not play catch up on hardware to put in computers. The downside is Windows now has to work on hundreds of different hardware components that other manufacturers make.

Apple makes the computer AND the OS and sells them as one product. You have a better reliability factor for the computer itself when they make the OS work with the computer theymake, theoretically they should work better together.

Technically, they are BOTH Personal Computers. (PC's)

But basically the difference between any Mac and a Windows computer is, Apple makes the hardware, (the computer itself), AND the Operating System (MacOS). Apple will not license their OS to any other company to install onto their hardware.

Acer, Sony, HP, Dell, etc, make the hardware, (the computer itself), but they don't make the Operating System. They have to buy a Licensed copy from Microsoft and install it onto their own hardware. Microsoft will license their software to any computer company that will adhere to their OS requirements.

As a side note, because Apple has "similar" hardware to a Windows machine it is capable of running Windows, with the help of Apples "Boot Camp" drivers.

And then you have Linux (free) that is only an Operating System that can run on either.
