William and James Lever, founders of Lever Bros. began making soap in 1885 in Lancashire England. In 1930, a Dutch margarine producer, Margarine Unie, joined with the British soap company, Lever Brothers; two companies who products were both made with palm oil. Since that time, the company acquired an extensive line brand name products, such as Lipton, Hellman's, Dove soap, Vaseline, Slim Fast, etc. which it now distributes worldwide.
