One of the deep mysteries to me is our logo, the symbol of lust and knowledge, bitten into, all crossed with the colors of the rainbow in the wrong order. You couldn't dream a more appropriate logo: lust, knowledge, hope and anarchy. - Jean-Louis Gasée, former CTO of Apple Computer
The Apple logo is one of the most recognizable icons in the world.
To look at the symbolism of the logo, it seems to represents the Forbidden Fruit from the Garden of Eden mythos in the Book of Genesis in Judeo/Christian scripture: Adam and Eve were banished from paradise for disobeying God's command that they not eat from the Tree of Knowledge. Many equate the apple to the forbidden fruit, probably because the apple still retains its distinct shape, color, and integrity of form even after a bite is taken from it: it remains recognizable, even in silhouette, as an apple.
In one simple graphic, the Apple logo manages to personify lust for knowledge, temptation, and rebellion.
