Yes you can, though most people are their own worst enemies. You would first ask yourself what a friend really is and try to be that person for yourself.

Friends look out for each other and try to be there for one another, so do your really look out for yourself and stand up for yourself? Someone's friend won't let others take advantage of them, so ask yourself if you let others take advantage of you? If so, then you aren't being a good friend to yourself. Friends would never let their friends fall into self-destructive lifestyles, so if you are doing drugs and getting drunk, then you aren't being a good friend. Friends care about the health and welfare of their friends, so if you are not taking care of yourself, then you are not being a good friend to yourself.

Many experts say that loving other people starts with loving yourself, and that being friends to others means first being your own friend. Of course, the flip side works too. If you treat others well, you in turn increase self-respect, and it then becomes easy to be your own friend.
