Not legally. Often, the contract is held in the name of a parent, but this can be transferred after age 16.
You can own one at any age but look for a minutes or prepaid one if you are under 18 or legal adult age in your locale since you can't sign a contract or have guardian get one for you on their account.
The answer would depend on your age and who pays the cell phone bill.
I feel that 16 is a decent age to get a cell phone.
You mean an actual cell phone, from sprint, AT&T, etc....? No, you can get a prepaid phone from somewhere like walmart, but to even get a phone you have to have a decent credit record or pay a huge deposit. To even have a decent credit record you have to work on it, and to even do that you have to be 18. Stick to living off of your parents, and if they won't get you a cell phone deal with it; I'm 18, in high school and still living off my parents; I intend to for as long as I can you have no idea how good you've got it.
It doesn't really matters how old you are. I think you can be 9 and over.
Actually, she does! Malia Obama received her first cell phone at the age of 9, for her 9th birthday. At the moment she currently has the world famous iPhone (by Apple and AT&T) and has never been on a prepaid plan. Must pay well to be the president's daughter!
54% of Americans will have a cell phone at the age of 8.
I think eleven or twelve is a good age for a cell phone.
Well ask yourself is it really necessary? How many people your age already have a phone? Are your parents willing to get you one? MY opinion is that it looks bad for anyone under 12 to be walking around with the latest phone.. If you are under 12 and absolutley think you need a phone maybe try a prepaid... It still makes calls and text and some even have web. That way your parents won't get a surprise bill.:P The apropriate age to have a phone is I think, 14!
Currently 75 percent of children aged 12 to 17 have a cell phone. There is no one right age to buy a child a cell phone and it is totally dependent on the child and the parent.
It depends on the interest of a person when it comes to cell phone. But based on my observation, people in that age usually prefer a cell phone that is not complicated and is easy to use. So buying a simple cell phone will be ideal for a person in this age. Simple cell phones are usually inexpensive including the calling plans that are offered with them so a person who will receive such cell phone will be thankful for getting a practical device.
There is no real age you need to be to buy a cell phone by itself. However to activate the phone with service from a cell phone carrier, you need to sign a contract which in most cases requires you to be 18 years old.
