Can you join Facebook at 12 years of age with parental approval?

You must be at least 13 years old to register for an account on Facebook.

According to the Facebook Privacy Policy page:

"No information from children under age 13. If you are under age 13, please do not attempt to register for Facebook or provide any personal information about yourself to us. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible."

And the Facebook Information for Parents and Educators page:

"Facebook requires individuals to be at least 13 years old before they can create an account. In some jurisdictions, the age limit may be higher. No, unfortunately you have to be 13 before you can join, as of now there is no parental override option. The reason is because they like to have high school and above in FB (Facebook). But for some people the age overlap allows for them to have a Facebook in 8th grade. The bottom line is NO, there's no such option.... You must be 13...

You aren't technically allowed, but you can as long as you say that you are 13 or over...
