Some parents were complaining that Zakuro, the purple mew, was offensive to their religion because she was using a cross as a whip. So the company didn't want to get sued so they took it off the air. (Sorry I've only watched the Japanese version. If you want to watch the rest of the series go onto youtube and lookup Tokyo Mew Mew).
