There are 6 strong acids , Muraitic ( a.k.a. HCL ) is a small molecule , it has only one Clorine ( CL-) Sulfuric has Sulfur , OXY , thus he can still weigh in after tossing his proton , also Vinegar ( a weak acid) can still weigh lots after it donates its proton ( H+) HCL will eat pipes , galvanization , copper , iron , calcium deposits on bath tub , VERY dangerous acid . But little harm to plastics that have no nitrogen . Nylon and others that have Nitrogen , are destroyed . My friends 12" metal cutting lathe was turned red with rust from a plastic bottle of HCL ( for pools ) . HCL is so strong a "helper" acid , it helps eat gold in Aqua Regia ( up to 82% HCL in the brew) In chem' , there are absorbers called "buffer" or sacrificial additives , that may dilute the HCL effect . Thus to maintain the cleaning effect , you must not dilute . Water is the only solvent that holds the strength of acids. It has no smell ,cause it has only CL- , thus used to lower pH in swim pools . Laundry powder has sodium ( opposite effect of acids ) so it absorbs protons , from your hands , from clothes ,,, Vinegar , or lemon will harden your skin in less than 1 second . The protons stripped from your skin are replaced quickly . In dilute form you can cook with sodium and Muriatic acids . Sodium will dilute acid foods , quick without any funny flavor , because table salt is SODIUM plus CLORINE , your body is accustomed to taking in large amnts of Sodium .

What are the ingredients for pool acid?

Pool acid typically refers to muriatic acid, which is a common acid used to lower the pH levels in swimming pools. The main ingredient is hydrochloric acid. It is important to handle muriatic acid with care as it is highly corrosive and should be diluted before adding it to the pool water.

Where might one find muriatic acid?

Muriatic acid is actually the historical name for what is now commonly known as hydrochloric acid. It can be found in many living organisms, particularly humans, as the main constituent of gastric acid in the stomach.

What are the disadvantages of muriatic acid?

Muriatic acid can be highly corrosive and releasing toxic fumes when used in confined spaces, posing health risks if inhaled or if it comes into contact with skin. It can also be damaging to certain materials like metal and fabric if not used properly. Improper disposal of muriatic acid can also harm the environment.

How long of a wait to shock a pool after adding muriatic acid?

Approx. 5 to 15 minutes. Or enough time for the circulation system to disperse the chlorine. Or you could add it to the opposite side of the pool. Remember not to add the acid to closely to the skimmer or main drain.

What gas is produced when hydrochloric acid is added to muriatic acid?

Nothing happens. The two are different names for the same chemical. If the two are different concentrations, though, the effect will be like adding water to the more concentrated one. Like when adding water and acid, heat and splashing may occur! Do this safely with proper protective gear, and with the container able to accept any heat generated due to the water + acid.

Can you unstop a drain with muriatic acid?

Muriatic acid or hydrochloric acid (HCl) will not harm copper pipes. I am a licensed Heating& cooling technician and I use Muriatic acid all the time to clean out hot water tankless coils and boiler hot water coils and I have seen it used to clean out hot water copper piping in houses to remove scale and mineral deposits. I use a 1/6 Submersible pump that i purchased at Home Depot. It's not a chemical pump and I have used this pump over 4 years and i have ran Muriatic acid through it at least 60 times and the pump still works great. I even took the pump apart to see if any damage was happening to it and it looked just like new. just wear long rubber gloves and full goggles for your eyes. safety glasses will not protect your eyes. the acid can splash up under the safety glasses. If you get any on your skin just rinse it off with cold water. Muriatic acid or HCl cleans up really well with water.

What acid is there in your stomach?

What does it mean if your toliet is clogged and water is coming up through the tub and shower drain?

It means that your main drain line is clogged downstream from where your drain from your tub ties into your toilet drain and the problem can be a hundred of different reasons. The first thing I would check is your clean out (if you have/find one) outside of your home usually within 2 to 5 feet from your outside wall. If you do find the clean out then take off the clean cover and see if your clean out pipe is full of sewage ( becareful of taking off clean out cover because it might have a lot of pressure behind it if clogged) If you can not find a clean out then if possible wait till the tub drains and then use a shop vac to vacuum out the toilet and then pull the toilet and snake down the toilet drain or if you find a clean out then snake down the clean out. When you run a snake down the clean out or toilet drain if possible run water down it too while you snake the drain line. Most drain lines do not plug up if they are plumbed in right which means have the right grade and have the right fittings so back to your question this could be possible that you have a problem in your drain line and I would (after you clear the line) check it with a camera other wise you might have to snake out your drain line often.
