Difference between ring tones and answer tones?

Ringtone is a digital sound file that a telephone plays to indicate an incoming call while

a Ring-back Tone (RBT) or Audible Ringing Tone is the song or sound that is heard on the telephone line by the calling party after dialing and prior to the call being answered at the receiving end.

When you receive a call, you hear your set ringtone. If you have set up an answer tone, anyone that calls you should hear music instead of the usual ringing noise. If you don't answer, your voicemail (if you have it set up) should pick up after the song is finished.
