No, a landline is not required for a Freedom Alert system to function. The device operates using a cellular network, allowing it to send alerts and communicate with emergency contacts without a traditional phone line. However, it's important to ensure that the device has a reliable cellular signal in your area for optimal performance.

The only solution that seems to work for accessing v-mail via landline is to dial your own cell number, press star and then enter your password. It seems there has been a great deal of discussion regarding a separate Sprint telephone number..... this option seems to have been suspended or truncated by Sprint. I do not know if there is a fee for checking v-mail via landline.
My brother used one of the air alert programs, he liked it and saw some results.

Having a landline would be good to have in case of a power outage-your cell might run out of battery and you wouldn't be able to recharge it. Simple landline phones still work in power outages. Cell phones are also easy to break or lose, so having a landline is good for when that happens.
