Reason for question: Plumber left valve open and flooded house
The hot water (heater) tank is fed from a 'header tank'; normally in the loft space but can be combined with the main heater tank (fortic). The header is filled from the water main. Unless the header is drained or its outlet is closed off, it will drain down through the open valve of the hot water (heater) tank.A tub drain works by allowing water to flow out of the bathtub through a pipe connected to the drain. When the stopper is lifted or turned, water is able to pass through the drain and into the plumbing system, ultimately leading the water away from the tub and out of the house.

A bathtub drain works by using a system of pipes and a stopper to allow water to flow out of the tub. When the stopper is lifted or turned, it creates a pathway for the water to drain through the pipes and out of the tub, preventing the water from overflowing.
There should be no reason the toilet would overflow. The water being turned off should have no effect on it. As long as the drain is clear even if the shut off valve in the tank didn't work, the water will just go down the drain.
To effectively drain water away from your house foundation, you can install gutters and downspouts to direct water away from the foundation, ensure the ground slopes away from the house, and consider installing a French drain or a sump pump to manage excess water. Regularly inspect and maintain these systems to prevent water damage to your foundation.
To drain the water that is in the pipe or spout..
The drain is clogged and there is water and crap fermenting in the bottom. I have a trane in the garage and it was also making a sweet nasty odor throught out the house. I turned the unit off in the house and I got a ladder and clean out the drain from the garage used Q-tips where the bleach did not get to and I put 1/2 cup of bleach in the drain. I let it sit for 10 minutes. Then I got the wet dry vac and went outside to where the drain is suppose to drain and I sucked out the drain. I repeated this step again in an hour. I changed all the filters and sprayed lysol in the return air. I turned the unit on again and I went to a motel for the night. Next morning the house was fresh and the garage was dry.
A bathtub drain works by using a system of pipes and a plug mechanism to allow water to flow out of the tub. When the plug is lifted or turned, it opens a pathway for the water to drain through the pipes and out of the tub, preventing the water from overflowing.
