When Jesus said: "LEAD US not into temptation, He was asking the Father not to place Him in a situation where the TEMPTER can tempt him.

God Himself never tempts us, but we can be allowed to enter a situation where the Tempter (Satan) can tempt us. (He allowed that with Job if you will remember).

When Jesus was led into the dessert....He was PLACED in a situation where the Tempter can get a hold of him...and this is what we should ask NOT TO HAPPEN in the prayer.

Taking someone to a place where they can be tempted, (or placing them in a situation where temptation can become a problem) and tempting them yourself are two different things...

Hope that helps

Is temptation a sin?

No. Temptation itself is not a sin. Following up on the temptation, or continually seeking the temptation is a sin. Through scripture, we know that Jesus Christ was without sin (1John 3:5 as one example), however the Bible also states that Jesus was a victim of temptation (Matthew 4:1-11). Since the bible states that Jesus was without sin, however he WAS tempted leads us to the conclusion that temptation itself is NOT a sin. James 1:14-15 states: "Each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death." .Answer Being tempted is not a sin because the enemy is tempting you Your not tempting your self But falling into temptation and being caught in it is a sin Jesus was tempted but he did not fall in it so he dident sin But we sinners get caught sometimes Jesus is no sinner He is God He does not sin
