How do you know if water running through cast iron pipe?

You can tell if water is running through a cast iron pipe by listening for the sound of flowing water, which often produces a distinct gurgling or rushing noise. Additionally, you might notice vibrations or a slight hum in the pipe if water is actively flowing. If there are visible signs of moisture or leaks around the pipe, that may also indicate water movement. Finally, using a flow meter can provide a definitive measurement of water flow through the pipe.

How can you tell if water is running through a pipe in a closed system?

You can determine if water is running through a pipe in a closed system by checking for changes in pressure using a pressure gauge; a drop in pressure may indicate flow. Additionally, you can listen for sounds of flowing water or vibrations in the pipe. If there are temperature changes along the pipe, it could also suggest water movement. Lastly, observing flow indicators or flow meters, if installed, provides a direct measure of water movement.

If the flow rate of a pipe is 2 L's. What does that tell you about how fast the water is moving?

A flow rate of 2 liters per second indicates that the pipe is delivering water at a steady pace of 2 liters every second. To understand how fast the water is moving, you would also need to know the cross-sectional area of the pipe. The speed of the water can be calculated using the formula: speed = flow rate / cross-sectional area, which gives insight into how quickly the water travels through the pipe.
