How did mogappair get its name?

Mogappair is a locality situated near Anna Nagar in Chennai. The origin of its name can be attributed to the 'Santhana Srinivasa temple' located here.In Tamil the ability to give birth to a child is called "magapperu". So it was a general belief that couples who had problems in giving birth to a child went to the temple to receive blessings from the Lord. And most of them were successful in having a child. So the fame of the temple spread to far places and the term "magapperu" , in course of time became "mogappair" and became the name of the place.
