How do you become a cop?

becoming a detective isn't an easy thing it requires a lot of hard work, you must be physically fit and mentally gifted. you may need a degree in criminal justice and work as a patrol officer for about three years but if you make a major arrest it can fast track your career. Im only 13 years old but I'm thinking about becoming a detective like my father who works for the special victims division.

One key thing is don't become a detective because of the shows like ncis or Law and Order as they are good TV shows but not realistic.
This depends on whether you want to be a private detective or a police detective. Private detectives include insurance investigators, store investigators, or private investigator. Private investigators are licensed by the state, normally by the state police department that also is repository of criminal records. Insurance investigators, legal investigators, and store investigators are hired by their respective employers, who would have their own rules by which they hire those types of investigators. Then there is a police detective, which is a position that is promoted to within the Police Department. All police detectives begin as police officers. The police department will have its own rules by which it would promote them to detectives.

To become a detective you have to first gom to law school then become a police and then when you get experienved alot u can become a detective
