To make a word on Gmail chat italic, you put an _ (underscore) on both sides of the word like _italic_ and it corns out italic. You can make strikethrough bye typing like -s-t-r-i-k-e-t-h-o-u-g-h- and it comes out strickethrough. To make a word bold, you put a * on bothe sides of the word like *bold* and it comes out bold. You can also use combinations or all three at the same time.

Use underscores before and after the word. Type:

for a try. :)

And for bold you do * before and after the word(s). For example: If you wanted this: "I absolutely adore junebugs." You would do: I *absolutely* _adore_ junebugs. Or if you want it bold AND italic : "I wished that I could fly really high! You would type: I wished that I could fly really _*high*_ :D

There is no known way to use italics in Facebook chat. However, you can make text bold or underlined, by adding a * before and after the words you want to be bold, or adding _ before and after any words you want to be underlined.
