In Facebook, to follow someone and get all the updates he posts, you can subscribe him or add him as a friend.

To subscribe someone, go to the person's wall and click on the subscribe button next to his name.

To add someone as a friend, click on "Add as friend" next to his name on his wall.

In order to follow, you search for the person you wish to follow on twitter. Then at the top of their page (under their name) it has a button that says "follow". Click that and it will say "following".
