How do you get Facebook chat?

To chat using Facebook, you must log in. Locate the bar across the bottom, and use the settings on the right of it, to go online or offline. You must be online to chat. If you have friends that are also online, click on the "online friends" part, and click on their name. You can now chat with them.

Down in the right hand corner by your notifications, there is a little speech bubble that pulls up your chat. When you click on it, it pulls up a window with a list of your friends that are online. You click on a name, and write a message, then push send. You will know they replied when you hear a click.
If you were inquiring how it worked technically, it uses a technology called AJAX to send messages to and from the server without refreshing the page.

At the bottom right of your screen a little tab should tell you how many friends you have online. Click that to open a list of your friends. Click the one you would like to chat with and that's it.

There is an icon in the bottom corner of the screen, and if clicked on, it enables the user to chat with the friends that they have added to Facebook.

Well, you can't really retrieve them, when it says "Are you sure you want to delete this?" it means FOREVER!!

After logging in see on the left hand side. There you will see a list of your friends which are added in your Facebook network. If your friend is online you can start the chat instantly.

By default facebook chat gets on when you are logged into facebook account.

Click on the chat button below the screen. If there is no chat Icon then I think you should contact facebook, they may be an error.
