1) go to a category's main page
2) scroll down a little and you'll see three blue choices: unanswered, new questions, new answers.
If you don't see those choices, then you're on a different kind of category page. In that case, scroll down, and on the far right of the page you'll see "see more activity" in blue. Left-click it, and in the page that comes up, you'll see a blue column on the left with "unanswered questions" as one of the choices.

Everyone who has an account on answers.com is able to answer unanswered questions.

Questions with only an Expert answer are treated as Unanswered. A mistaken policy according to some.

You can find unanswered questions by going to the top of the Answers website, clicking "Ask" and then on the right side clicking Unanswered Questions. Then browse to the category that you want (Biology).

Next to the posted category is either the words "Edit categories" (for unanswered questions), or a little pencil symbol (for answered questions). Click on that to change the categories.
In the top-right corner, there is a link reading "Unanswered questions". You will find them there.
