If you cant get your cleaned finger nail between the stud front and your ear lobe then the stud is too tight and needs to be loosened, ease the backing off the back of the stud and move the stud so you have space between the stud face and the ear lobe. If worst comes to worst take the studs out and replace them with good quality sleeper rings.
