In CA the cell phone and texting law states that you CAN use the phone to dial so how does a cop know if I am dialing a number or texting?
If you put the phone to your face, you've dialed someone and their hone is ringing. Otherwise, you'll set the phone down because you're message is sending.

I am talking about making a call while using a headset. I checked the CA DMV site and you ARE allowed to still use the phone (your fingers) to dial. At the same time, you are NOT allowed to text. So, my question is how does a cop know whether you are dialing or texting? DUH
