There are differences between a cable ISP versus a DSL ISP. DSL typically shares its bandwith among all users connected to the same DSLAM. Cable users however share it across all users connected to the same CMTS. This means that in general, cable can provide higher bandwidth.

If you already have a cable or DSL internet service provider (ISP) and a modem you will need to purchase a router and an ethernet cable. The cable runs from the router to the PS2 and provides access to the internet once connected
In order to find a DSL ISP provider you can do a simple search and look for "DSL ISP providers in [zip code]" on the internet. Another easy way to do this is to ask co-workers or neighbors where they are getting their internet from and call around to those places.
You need a DSL line and a DSL modem for a home connection. Contact your local phone company or ISP for a connection.
