This is a much deeper question than you might realize. First, Answers.com is a wiki, and as such anyone on earth with access to a computer can get to the site and make various kinds of edits to questions and to answers. That person can leave answers to questions that have not yet been answered, and in many cases substantially change answers that are already in place.

Can you be guaranteed that every word you read here is completely accurate and up to date? No thinking person can conclude that. Some people do occasionally come to the site to interrupt the normal working of the site by erasing legit answers, leaving bogus answers or vandalism, or by flooding the site with meaningless questions. But such people make up a very small minority of contributors.

Most visitors to the site try very hard to ask good questions and to leave answers of high quality. Even so, this doesn't keep human beings (there are real human beings behind what you read here) from making unintended errors. You should never consider what you read here to be authoritative. This is one of many different places to seek information. Materials here may get you to think of other aspects of the question, or may give you valuable information you wouldn't otherwise get. But of those contributors who try hard to provide quality information, the vast majority of them, there is no question that they attempt to share the truth as they know it.

It depends on the trust points of the contributor to that question.

Here are some clues you can use to guess how likely an answer is to be right:

If the answer is by someone who is just a bunch of numbers (an IP address): almost certainly wrong.

An answer by someone who has a name with a low trust number after it could be either right or wrong; you'll have to take your chances.

Answers by people with high trust numbers (more than, say, 100 trust points) are more likely to be right. (Not always, though; they may be answering a question outside their field of expertise.)

An answer in which everything is correctly spelled and in which proper grammar is used throughout is much more likely to be correct than one which iz ritin l1ke ths.

Multiple exclamation points are the sign of an unstable mind.

That depends on the users who contributed to the question. The most reliable way to check if a question is genuine is to check if the facts found in the question can be matched to a more reputable source. Also, questions which are locked are probably the most reliable source as they almost always will have been checked by a supervisor, but again, checking would be useful to confirm the supervisor's view.

Depends. Most people attempt to give good answers, but there are vandals that come on the site that put nonsense answers. To prevent this a group of volunteers ( I am one) read the questions and answers . We do our best to correct them.

There will always be vandals on websites who try to make things bad. However, Answers.com tries very hard to have correct answers for each question. If you find a problem with any question or answer, you can flag it so a Supervisor can review it.

For something to be corrupt, there must be an intention to deceive, or a deceitful attitude that makes someone prone to doing wrong. Answers.com, like all websites, gets vandals. But overall, people who visit Answers truly want a factual, truthful website that all visitors can enjoy.
