gaiaonline.com is "mostly free". its free to join and free to participate but the monthly collectibles(rare items only sold in there month and can go for millions of gold IE:angelic halo which is the first sells for 3,000,000 gold). i highly recommend gaia because its like facebook and myspace with a teenage twist of manga and teen-adult only content.

No it doesn't only if you WANT to pay. But you can still get the same items as people who pay but you have to work harder for it. Like if someone bought gaia cash and sold the item for 70,000g you can still buy it, it's just easier with $$.

No and Yes. No you don't actually have to pay for anything in the game if you don't choose to; however, if you do choose to buy Gaia Cash cards (costs real world money) you can get much more expensive items for the site far quicker then saving up for them.
