yes it is. there is nothing differant between the outer casing. The only difference is the Ratio's. EG: the ratio's on the MK3 is more for comfort unlike the MK2.All you need to do is make sure that the flywheel is the same....other than that every thing will go smooth.
No, a Mk3 Golf GTI gearbox will not fit a Mk2 GTI directly. The two models have different gearbox mounting points and designs, which means modifications would be necessary for it to fit. Additionally, the Mk3 features a hydraulic clutch system, while the Mk2 uses a cable-operated system, further complicating compatibility.
Yes, I have it done on mine. The MK3 2.0 gearbox fails when it gets to high mileage. The Mk2 1.8 gearbox is bulletproof.
Yes, a Mk2 Golf GTI gearbox can fit a Mk2 Golf Driver, as both models share a similar platform and drivetrain components. However, it's important to ensure compatibility with the engine and other related components, as variations in gear ratios and mounting points may exist. Always consult a professional or refer to specific vehicle manuals for detailed guidance before proceeding with such modifications.
