It's called a Modem which stands for Modulator/Demodulator. Modems take digital signals from the sending computer and convert these signals into Analog so they can be transmitted over wire (phone or cable).
On the receiving computer, the Analog signals are then converted back to Digital in order for the computer to decipher the information.
There is a software program called RoConnect which allows the laptop to easily connect to the computer. Download the software to the computer and follow the steps given to connect to the Roku 2. This will allow all programs viewable on the Roku to be able to be viewed on the laptop.
