Depends on the water quality and what type of galvanized piping was used
Galvanized pipes typically last around 50 years before needing to be replaced.
Galvanized steel can take 15-20 years to start rusting, but the exact time can vary depending on the environment and conditions it is exposed to.

Galvanized steel can take several years to rust, depending on factors like exposure to moisture, salt, and chemicals. The rate of rusting can be influenced by environmental conditions, such as humidity levels and air pollution.
Galvanized metal typically takes 10 to 50 years to begin rusting, depending on environmental factors such as exposure to moisture, salt, and pollution. The protective zinc coating on galvanized metal helps delay the rusting process.
Galvanized chain is designed to resist rusting, but in a coastal climate where there is high humidity and salt in the air, it may start to show signs of rust after a few years. Regular maintenance, such as rinsing with fresh water and applying a protective coating, can help prolong its lifespan.
Seeing how close the ship was to the reef the coastguard was galvanized into action
Have you checked the faucets to see if the screens in the spout are plugged? Any time you break the pipes rust and minerals can break off and plug the screens. Yes, I have checked the screens, it appears to be something that broke loos into those two galvanized lines. Any way to identify and/or fix without replacing the entirety of the plmbing in the house?
the pipes were old, rotten and corroded and should have been replaced years ago!
No. Galvanized pipe is what they used to use, and now should either be replaced with modern type of water pipe such as PEX or copper. COMMENT: Complete agreement. Galvanized served it's purpose and did bring water into a lot of people's homes for a lot of years. That was then, this is now. Today, it would be a dead last choice for a plumbing system.
